Tommy Douglas Branch Library, Burnaby

June 7, 2014

This branch library opened in November 2009. It is a LEED building. It is basically a box, but with a couple of dedicated separate rooms, one of which is a technology lab (bibliotech). It has a welcoming entrance, and lots of windows and light. There is an interesting use of coloured walls and glass, with textured floor coverings to delineate spaces — social seating, individual and group work spaces, and a children’s section.
