Compared to Norma Rose Point, UHill Secondary, designed by the same architecture firm, seems austere and businesslike. There is not much use of colour or whimsy. Library staff suggested that the student lounge, which is located on the floor below the library, would be better used if it were situated right beside the library.

Highlights

There were a couple of nice study areas in the library.
They used the same “garage-door” walls that we’d loved so much at Norma Rose Point, but they don’t work as well in this setting. Classrooms with these glass doors face the school hallways; activities in the hall could distract students in class.
The lack of colour emphasizes the hard surfaces and concrete construction.
