Highlights

• Room with sprung floor and mirrors on walls — usable multi-purpose space.
• Marmoleum floors are apparently very expensive to maintain.
• Gymnastics classes are run and owned by community centre (they run all the “learn to” programs) and generate $1 million revenue. As well as their own programs, there are two gymnastics clubs, which help to pay for the space; they also rent the space out.
• Button-operated screen divides halves of the gym.
• They offer Lego programs for kids!
• Lazy river is separate from the kiddy pool so that if somebody sullies the kiddy pool, you don’t have to close both for the clean-up.
• Garage-style overhead doors (like UHill and Norma Rose Point).
• Change rooms should be all “family” rooms including privacy booths with showers and some open-area showers, too — need for universal-style change rooms that don’t exclude anyone; the change rooms are already being renovated to provide more universal ones.
• Be sure to remember there’s both cost of construction and then cost of furnishings!
• They have a huge amount of both surface and underground parking. How much is needed?
